Civility is concern for the common good. It is the virtue of the citizen. Knowledge of the ways in which civility, or the lack thereof, has informed the contributions the United States has made to world history, can improve our ability to do a better job of understanding, supporting, and opposing the American Empire. It can help us act with greater civility as citizens in our emerging global society
